Melchora Skirt
The Melchora Skirt is a unique wrap-around skirt in muted colour tones that you can easily mix-and-match with any piece you have. Its uneven length is inspired by how our ancestors wore the tapis on top of a longer skirt, creating a unique Filipino style.
Kinabuhi wants to embody this uniquely Filipino look by taking elements of these traditional pieces and combining them with modern styles. We aimed to create pieces that could become closet staples and are easy to style and wear again and again for years to come. We use different layers of fabrics and patterns, combining deadstock commercial and printed deadstock fabrics with a special handwoven accent designed by Damgo Textiles.
This skirt is part of the Tira Tira Collection where we make use of upcycled textile waste, zero-waste weaves, and fabric scraps to highlight our circularity efforts and make sure that nothing goes to waste.
