The Diwata Skirt is a version of Kinabuhi’s bestselling Lucia skirt featuring beautiful embroidered gumamela flowers.
Named after the mythic guardians of nature, the Diwata Skirt evokes grace and play in a silhouette that moves with you. Each piece carries heritage and innovation, where every fabric scrap finds a new purpose and every thread tells a story of revival.
This wrap skirt is our version of a modern ‘tapis’ and ‘saya’ with a mix of different deadstock and handwoven honeycomb fabrics, made with upcycled deadstock and scrap thread. This represents the contrasting stripe and plaid fabrics seen in the traditional Filipiniana attire. The handwoven honeycomb fabric adds a hint of playfulness to the piece with its unique texture and combination of colors. The skirt can be styled to be worn every day or for formal occasions. Our modern version reimagines this heritage piece with an efficient wrapping technique, making it perfectly suited for the contemporary Filipina.
